Depth-first! I’ve never seen the argument for the simple “Tabs Open Relative” extension stated so eloquently. If only this idea would get incorporated into Firefox already…

It’s great how you manage to “maximize information density” and “minimize data ink”. To me this is the most sophisticated draft so far. Imho it comes too late for Firefox 3.1, as well as some other proposals on that topic, but I’m tempted to start implementing FoxGlide soon.

I have some evidence that it should work: Enso and Quicksilver and Mozilla Ubiquity (released since I posted this) do something similar to switch windows or tabs, and they work very well. They don’t use a fullscreen display, though; this might need to be toned down.

I have finally taken the time to read this (helped by going fullscreen! ;) and I really like the idea of FoxGlide. It sounds pretty slick, but I’m wondering if it really would work as the default way of switching tabs?

Tabs are much more functional with https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5890 (Tree Style Tab).

It solves most of your problems now, in a different way.

I’d like some of your thoughts rolled in with TST.
